Cana of Galilee is a historic village with a population of 23,000, including a Christian community comprising 10.2% of its residents. This village is best known as the site of Jesus' first miracleThe Wedding at Cana (John 2:1-11), where He turned water into wine. Due to its biblical significance, Cana welcomes an average of 1,370 tourists daily as part of the renowned Jesus Trail pilgrimage.

The Mission of Cana Baptist Church

Cana Baptist Church began in 1957 as a mission of the Baptist Church in Nazareth. Initially, the ministry focused on youth and children, gathering believers for Bible studies in a small rented flat or under a nearby fig tree. As the ministry grew, God expanded the vision, leading to a thriving faith community committed to discipleship, outreach, and spiritual growth.

Today, Cana Baptist Church continues to serve as a beacon of faith, sharing the Gospel, equipping the next generation, and strengthening the Christian presence in the land of Jesus’ miracles.

The Growth of Cana Baptist Church – A Story of Faith and Expansion

In 1959, the vision for a Baptist center in Cana of Galilee became a reality—a small meeting place dedicated to youth, children, and women's gatherings. As the ministry expanded, a kitchen and additional room were added in 1987 to accommodate growing needs.

By 1995, the small group of young men who had formed the church’s foundation had married and started families, leading to the launch of a family ministry. In 2002, an influx of new families led to a fresh ministry approach—home visits became a powerful tool for outreach in the village, strengthening the church’s presence in the community.

With rapid church growth, it became evident that a larger meeting space was needed. In 2009, construction began on a new worship space on the rooftop, marking a new chapter of expansion. Since then, we have witnessed God’s incredible work—with a growing number of children and youth joining our church every week.

Today, Cana Baptist Church continues to flourish, and we are excited about the doors God is opening for ministry. We invite you to be a part of this journey—come and experience His joy with us!
